I've been trying for over a week to get a wireless network setup at home. At first, I went with the Linkys Wireless B Broadband Router and Notebook card (PCMCIA). All my buddies use this setup with BellSouth DSL at home and all said the same thing -- it takes a good 2-3 days to set it all up correctly. Given that the baby doesn't give me much contiguous time to accomplish any complex tasks, it took me even longer before I finally gave up, returned the goods to CompUSA and gave the Netgear stuff a shot. I'm happy to say that I just plugged the Netgear Wireless B Broadband Router/Wireless Access Point MR814v2 into place and I was instantly running (in terms of Internet connectivity). The problem still remains with the laptop not seeing the 802.11b network. One possibility is the 2.4 GHz phone in the house, but even when I disconnect it (kill the power), no dice. The other possibility is that my laptop is the culprit. I just need to get one of my pals with a wireless card in his laptop to comeover to rule out that possibility.
