After three trips to CompUSA, I finally got my wireless home network setup. It was all a matter of selecting the right hardware for my particular environment it seems. First of all, I'm thoroughly impressed with Netgear's product line and would recommend their goods to anyone without hesitation. I plugged my router in, and instantly had Internet access -- something that I could not get to work properly with the Linksys products which required much more intervention. After trying numerous 802.11b cards from various vendors, I finally decided to give the 32-bit card bus Wireless G card from Netgear a shot. Again, instant success. The Wireless B cards I had tried could not find a signal in the same room as the router, much less in other parts of the house. I chalked it up to my 2.4GHz cordless phone, and even unplugged it to no avail. The Wireless G card, however, got an excellent quality signal consistently from any part of the house even with the cordless phone a few feet away. Major props to Netgear. Linksys, you've got some work to do.
